About us

Libris Ignis was established to make science more accessible to general audiences. Our articles, submitted by field experts, focus on science, technology, engineering, and medical advances. In addition, we do weekly interviews with field specialists who explain their research, while giving us insights into their lives and backgrounds. By introducing subject specialists to general audiences we hope to not only foster trust between the scientific community and society but to inspire others to enroll for courses at their local universities or colleges.

Though most research is funded by the government through taxes, most research is at times inaccessible to those who fund it. Also, society seems to be more interested in entertainers and sports heroes than the people who are actively trying to make their world safer, better, and more comfortable. We at Libris Ignis attempt to address this issue by celebrating researchers and their studies.

Meet our editors

Stephan Cloete, PhD | ORCiD

Stephan has worked at three South African universities over the last 16 years in the multimedia and communication studies disciplines. As an avid reader of scientific works he noticed that a lot of science is inaccessible to general audiences, even though there are many that have an interest in the sciences. He founded Libris Ignis to address these problems and to bring scientific discovery to the masses.
